Awesome rack-mounted box spotted on Mass Ave. I peeked inside it and the owner had a bike helmet in there at the time of these photos. I particularly liked the wide leather straps, this was clearly a DIY project.

Fascinating box, and it looks quite functional! I love that s/he even has their tail light attached... very cool.
The box sure looks nicer than the helmet would. Are many Bostonians wearing helments these days? Do you find yourself disinclined to photograph them?
Making bike art, propaganda for the elegance of the stately bike and rider dressed in whatever, I can't bring myself to show helmets.

Michael,
I have posted a piece on my helmet position at the top of my blog. I wear a helmet, and my husband did until the Hubway bike share came out. He still wears one when he cycles for sport. I don't chide him for not wearing one on the Hubway, though I wish he would.
As I say in my statement, I mostly wear one because if something were to happen and I weren't wearing one I would feel really angry with myself for not taking that precaution. I do photograph cyclists with helmets, as well as those without. Here are some helmets:

I can understand how you wouldn't want to use a helmet in your art though.
Nice! I like boxes and baskets. There was a randonneur that had an awesome wooden box on the front for a 115k, it was great!
Stylish! And it fits perfect with the bike!
Amazing!!! The wooden Box looks Great...
