Mild in Ma

It was such a perfect day I was delighted to see so many other cyclists out enjoying it. Unfortunately my camera was not so perfect, we both seem to be lacking charge these days. Still, hurray for the lovely ladies out on Mass Ave this morning.

One handed, in heels.

Black and white and going places.

Yellow trees and yellow bikes make for an autumnal morning.

High Heels and Coffee

It was early Saturday morning, she was riding slowly enough to not pose a hazard with her one-handed cycling. Love how those jeans fit with her classic black heels.

Gentleman Cyclist

boat shoes bike bicyle jeans cap
There is no doubt but that when this gentleman steps off his bike he no longer appears to be a cyclist. So here's proof! One can bicycle with no special clothes.
I love his cap.

Here he did some stretching while waiting for his light:

Rain Predicted, Purple Helmet

I love the matte purple helmet with the shiny blue bike. All her colors are very harmonious.

I also like that, like me, she is also checking out the other bikes!

Tweedy Jacket

I thought this guy was looking stylin' with his tweedy jacket and jeans. Almost professorial with those glasses too.

Sorry about the blur, low light images are tough with a point-and-shoot!

Happy "Sundress Day"

sunny day Boston cyclist
"Sundress Day" - the first day in springtime where we all simultaneously wear too little clothing in the overwhelming joy that we just might get away with it. Usually accompanied by pasty white legs and eventual sandal blisters, but it's a joyous celebration anyway.

Today in Boston is sunny with a high of 67 F (21 C). Happy Sundress Day Boston!

Ralph Lauren Cyclist

Ralph Lauren bike Bicycle
Early morning I saw this handsome guy cycling with his coffee, his jeans turned up and his desert boots looking oh-so-cool. He sported a blazer and sunglasses with his jeans. He crossed the sidewalk and opened up the Newbury Street Ralph Lauren store. I guess that explains why he was dressed so nicely!

Nice that he gets to bring his bike into the store.

All the cooler for the blur. At least that's what I tell myself.

Mixte in Boston

I like her boots and her skinny jeans. I wonder why she doesn't put her pack on her rack?

Here's a bonus photo of a Boston pothole. There's another one on the Mass Ave bridge that will swallow a bike whole if you're not careful. Look out!

Red and White - Coat and Bike

Today we get a reprieve from the cold, neither of us were wearing gloves. It's wet but glorious out! Winter will make one so grateful for small pleasures.

Going Green (with a brown basket)

Bike Boston is looking chic, even in the rain. An ensemble that coordinates with her bike indicates the bike was probably chosen for its aesthetics, in addition to it evident practicality.

A charming group effort

Boston cyclist 3-speed church
I chanced upon this lovely lady and told her about this blog, asking to take her photo. She already knew of the blog (how exciting!) because her friend had been featured on the blog twice already.

This lovely lady then went on to explain to me how she came by her bike. It, and basically everything on it, as well as the maintenance for it, have been gifts through the last few years. That dynohub of hers I was lusting over? That was last year's birthday present from a group of friends. The parts go on like that. She pointed out her light which attaches to the dynohub is modern, and doesn't go as well with the overall 'look' of the bike. I have been looking into these dynohubs, and it seems her friends are very wise, the modern light will save her many headaches and blown lightbulbs.

I just love that she has streamers.

I Like White Bikes

A white bike just seems 'cute' to me.

It's been SUPER hot here

98 degrees Fahrenheit, 37 degrees Celsius. No joke hot. This lady looked cool in her tank, with the flowered bag on her handlebars.

Late Spring

Acidulé - Lemon Lime

Schwinn Suburban green with pretty girl
Punchy colors say "spring!", and we're all ready for that! I think the green with yellow is just what we all need right now.

This lovely lady chose her Schwinn Suburban because it is so cute, and because the price was very near the price of a cup of coffee. We don't see deals like that in Boston, she bought hers in Holyoke. It was the steal of the century, as she now describes it as her "around town Cadillac", getting her comfortably to her destination in style.

Comment from a reader:

Schwinn SuburbanYes ma'am, the SUBURBANs do ride like a Cadillac. For over a year now my favorite rider Schwinn has been my Chestnut colored 1980 ladies Suburban. Since my first ride on it a year ago in April, I have been calling it my Cadillac Bike. I like it so much I invested in a BROOKS "Glenbrook" saddle bag for it. Even built a new set of wheels for it using a pair of the Schwinn lusciously graceful high-flange QR hubs laced with new DT D/Butted SS spokes into the original rims.
This SUBURBAN being my personal favorite bike was the reason I was able to invest so much heart and soul into building up Eliza Doolittle, another SUBURBAN.

Little red riding boots, you sure are lookin' good

red boots girl on bike
Spotted on Newbury Street this evening. I am sure that Sam the Sham and all the Pharohs would agree that she's lookin' good! I like how she added her cycling gloves to an otherwise street-oriented outfit.
