Since I saw the Butterfly Tandem, I've seen tandems all over town - parked in front of grocery stores, parked on the bridge, and this couple who turned off in the direction of the Butterfly Tandem, but on closer inspection I don't think there are any butterflies on that bike. In 2007 I could not find a tandem anywhere. Now they're all over the place.

I saw two tandems on sat. Although I found it funny that all four were wearing racing outfits but they were riding in a relaxed style. Seems like tandem is all about being relaxed, but maybe there are tandem races? Have you seen the heart twosome bike? Like the conference bike by for two and in the shape of a big red/pink heart.

I saw them all the time when I lived in Davis, Calif.
When my mom was visiting me and we were outside at a cafe, she asked about people on tandems. I told her people ride them all the time and she would see one within a few minutes. And a minute later, a tandem went by!
I really really really want a tandem. But I think my husband and I would fight like cats and dogs. He'd have to be the stoker!
Lately I've been seeing more tandems and the couples riding them always seem so chic. Maybe it is a fashion statement.

There are some tandem races. here in Shropshire, UK we have an annual tandem triathlon (in Bishop's Castle).
Blind track cyclist and triathletes ride tandems competitively.

Do try a tandem. Sometimes couples fight but more often they find that they get in tune with each other. It's so much more enjoyable than cycling together.
