I hope he gets rid of those suicide levers soon but I'm glad he's out riding his bike!

Hm, what do you mean by 'suicide levers'?
Oh, those are the levers which run across the top of the handlebars towards the stem. It seems they are also called "extension levers" (scroll down on Sheldon's page)
Volunteering at Bikes Not Bombs has allowed me to see the number of those levers which come in sheared off, presumably under stress. I don't need to be told twice - I don't trust those levers.
