South End Knitters Strike Again

This time the street artists chose to leave beautiful handmade flowers festooning the bike racks next to some Community Gardens on the Southwest Corridor Park.

The flowers are all handmade to represent identifiable plants, and I particularly love the bee with the huge grin on his face:

I can only imagine what fun the South End Knitters had as they planned and executed this art installation. I wish I were a knitter, this group looks like a lot of fun!

I will have to put the flowers on my bike and return to take a photo of everyone bedecked in flowers!

How fun! My Gran was a mad knitter. She tried to teach me, but I was useless at it (in Ireland, where she was from, men knit too). I wish I could still fit into those multi-stripe wool socks I got from her every Christmas. Home-made, warm, practical and funky.

PJ, I say that I wish I was a knitter, but I really only work in wovens. My husband, on the other hand, is a very good knitter. Never gotten to socks though, I'd like some funky homemade striped socks too!

this is awesome!
Charlotte, you can learn to knit. My mom tried to teach me when I was a kid but she gave up on me... probably had something to do with me being left-handed. Five years ago I learned thanks to the Stitch 'n' Bitch book, friends and my local yarn store staff. I don't take time to knit much but if you want to learn, you can.

you know this is really a coven's cover. spiders knitt so very well. they knit together a community. so very cool. (but they use broomsticks for needles).
