I have been noticing more and more
KHS green bicycles around. The
ladies frame is especially nice - with a few key upgrades I think it could be a good, simple, affordable option. Sure, it lacks the glamour of the trendy city bikes, but that may work out in its favor long-term.

My husband and I rented the men's and ladies' KHS Green a couple of times and I have an informal review here.
The ladies' really is quite elegant looking. For the price, I think that you can't beat this bicycle; I highly recommend it.
If I didn't score my fabulous Columbia on Craigslist, I would have gone with the KHS Green. The part of me that still wants a brand new bike really wants to save up for the KHS, still. I'm glad that someone is making a Dutch-style bike at an entry level price.
I also notice lots of KHS Green bikes in Cambridge and some in Boston. Often I see one locked up somewhere, well used, and go through the same "Oh, that looks like a nice bike... oh yeah, that's the Green!"
It looks like a great bike if I were in the market for a new one right now. Out of curiousity, does anyone know the approximate price for this bike?
Nice, though from the photo it looks as if the ladies' model has a rather high upper bar for people (women or men) who opt for a women's bike due to mobility issues. A lower bar makes cycling accessible to people with arthritis.
Jen, the MSRP was $359 in April. This includes fenders, rack, and everything else that you see on the bikes in my photos here.
But note that lights are not included, and if you want a rust free chain it is extra as well.
Lagatta, My photo is of a lady riding a man's frame. The link to the KHS site shows a ladies' frame on the right hand side.
I have a photo of a lady riding a ladies' frame someone here on the blog, but I searched and could not find it! I guess I'm getting too many photos now.
I know, it's a solid good value commuter bike, but...
I'm just not feeling it on a style level. For my money I'd rather have a vintage 3 speed with some pizazz.
It's just so monochromatic....
Come on Carice, you can get it...
Imagine it with a black brooks saddle, and bars like these but powdercoated black... It would be very striking for short money.
A bit like this vintage bike but all new. I would call her The Shadow.
Lagatta, I found my photo of the ladies frame.
